The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for anEmergency Services and Security TechnicianinCarrollton, KY.
The Emergency Services and Security (ES&S) Technician responds to fire, rescue, medical, and security emergencies, as part of a disciplined team, under potentially dangerous and highly stressful circumstances. Individuals in the role work with Dow Site manufacturing facilities to assess the resource needs and potential impact of all emergency situations, as well as develop, implement, and coordinate appropriate actions plans. Focus is also required to ensure emergency equipment and systems are maintained in a prime and ready state for operation.
Maintain and demonstrate competency in all ES&S disciplines. (Fire Fighter, Rescue, Hazmat, Medical, Security)
Incident Command responsibilities during emergencies. Capable of leading site emergency response teams in emergency situations.
Inspect, test, and verify emergency response equipment and systems
Shared ownership of ES&S related standard operating procedures for the site
Inspect, test, and verify site fire protection systems (sprinkler systems, hydrants, monitors, fire extinguishers)
Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols. Uses procedures to complete work efficiently and accurately.
Utilize the Dow ES&S work processes, best practices, and effective technologies to schedule and complete document activities.
3 or more years of experience in emergency response operations, this includes experience in emergency response with an industrial environment, or as a first responders, such as a fireman, police officer, EMT, etc.
Current Kentucky EMT (Basic) certification or have an equivalent EMT certification from another state AND National Registry certification (Must apply for and obtain a Kentucky Reciprocity certification upon hire)
Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.
Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.
Basic computer knowledge, including previous experience using Microsoft applications.

Able to work 12 hour, rotating shifts
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Willing and able to wear and use respirators including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.
An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or related field.
ProBoard/IFSAC certified to NFPA 1081 (Industrial Fire Fighter).
State Fire Fighter I and II certifications per NFPA requirements.
Incident Command Systems – ICS 100/ICS 200 level.
Trained to Hazmat Technician level.
Industrial work experience in chemical or manufacturing industry.
4 or more years of military experience/training in a related technical field.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
