The Lavatories & Water Waste Systems division of Rockwell Collins is the sole source lavatory provider for the Boeing 737 MAX program. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Senior Test Engineer in our Lavatories & Water Waste Systems business located in Everett, WA.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Senior Test Engineer plans, designs, leads and performs validation-verification programs from LRUs to entire water and waste systems. Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, and techniques. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment. The position requires an ability to interpret, on a broad basis, the principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains test equipment operational availability and calibration.

  • Provides technical leadership to a group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.

  • Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.

  • Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.

  • Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion.

  • Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design.

  • Performs RCCA, and develops remediation/solutions.

  • Initiates and maintains design data throughout the technical maturity phases.

  • Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.

  • Reviews project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy.

  • Generates artifacts and reports to provide objective evidence of compliance to requirements.

  • Participates in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college/university and eight (8) years related experience and/or training.

  • Experience in water and waste system components, including galley inserts.

  • Construction of test benches, prototypes, and integrated test rigs.

  • Manufacturing engineering experience for new product introduction and industrialization.

  • Technical writing and presentation for training and reporting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred product knowledge base includes, but is not limited to, fluid handling equipment such as actuated or manual valves, pumping equipment, high speed blowers or fans, hydraulics, plumbing elements, thin-walled pressure vessels, and fluid/pneumatic seal designs.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes, but is not limited to machined elements, composites, injection molding, thermal forming, and sheet metal fabrications.

  • Working knowledge of aerospace materials, processes, and finishes.

  • Hands-on experience with assembly, troubleshooting, and testing electrical systems and components.
