Your daily responsibilities include

  • Audits the operations, accounting and financial data of various properties

  • Follow audit programs to conduct audits

  • Perform detail testing of source documents to ensure compliance with requirements of Internal Control Manuals, Regulatory Rules/Acts and departmental policies and procedures

  • Perform observations and analysis of departmental procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiencies

  • Develop and recommend alternative procedures to enhance operations

  • Recommend improvements to procedures, operational efficiencies and continued compliance

  • Identify weaknesses and provides options

  • Complete audit files with working papers reference to the audit program

  • Liaise with external auditors to communicate information and resolve problems.

  • Present audit issues to the Regional Internal Audit Director for the development of reprts and recommendations

  • Maintain audit files, ensures files contain planning memos, programs and reports and follows up to ensure audit recommendations have been followed

  • Analyze data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of efforts, extravagance, fraud, or lack of compliance with law, government regulations, and management plans, policies or procedures

  • Assist in planning the theory and scope of audits and related audit programs

  • Requires travel to operations within areas we operate up to 50% of the time

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • Bachelor’s Degree; 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Generally relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines, but occasionally relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required

  • Familiarity with standards, concepts, practices and procedures within Sarbanes-Oxley Act, gaming and/or pari-mutual wagering is desired

  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English

  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations

  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Must possess valid drivers' license; CPA or CIA or candidate for certification desired
