CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Critical and Analytical Thinking – Seeking a candidate who identifies inconsistent or missing information. Critically reviews, analyzes, synthesizes, compares, and interprets information. Draws conclusions from relevant and/or missing information. Tests possible hypotheses to ensure the problem is correctly diagnosed and the best solution is found.
Identifies, analyzes, and interprets results of trends or patterns in complex data sets and communicate key findings and recommendations including cost of service, rate setting, and forecasts of future energy demands.
Design and develop automation procedures for summary tables, reports, and queries of large databases.
Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality through use of databases, data collection systems, etc.
Gathering and Using Information – The individual in this position will need to show resourcefulness and tenacity in obtaining data, using a variety of methods and contacts as needed. Always considers the credibility of information sources, identifies questionable data, and further researches to verify. Understands and effectively implements basic data analyses such as computing ranks, means, trends, and/or other statistics. Reports information in a manner that is complete but concise and with a professional appearance, focusing on the critical issues with the right amount of detail. Successfully identifies, collects, and applies appropriate information, analysis tools, and technology.
Design and build comprehensive reports, dashboards and other tools to assist with business decisions regarding rate schedules and change management regarding rate changes affecting customers.
Participate in data architecture decisions and technology deployments to support the information processing of large datasets.
Problem Solving – The successful candidate identifies and prioritizes significant problems and opportunities. Takes logical and systematic approaches to solving problems. Avoids jumping to conclusions prematurely; thoroughly analyzes all aspects of the problem and brainstorms alternative causes and solutions. Effectively uses available data and resources such as written information and/or subject matter experts to solve problems. Considers resource constraints when generating solutions. Provides clarification and support to others that will implement problem solutions. Considers organizational values when generating solutions.
- Use problem solving skills to resolve data discrepancies, understand trade-offs associated with data relationships and decipher unexpected results from forecasting models, survey data, rate structuring, etc.
Advanced Computer Skills – The ideal candidate knows how to search and find information in internal databases and online. In general, uses computer effectively to complete work and solve business-related problems. Builds in-depth familiarity of organization's technology, including functions, use, quantity,
and physical location. Stays up-to-date with relevant technology and the offerings of primary vendors and seeks new applications as appropriate to improve results. Is able to use Microsoft Office (or equivalent) software to prepare spreadsheets for data analysis and reports for management review and approval.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or Statistics, and
Four years of progressively responsible experience in area of assignment; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
