Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Project Manager with experience in the design and construction industry especially related to retail stores/gas stations based in out of our Louisville, KYoffice. The projects will be located in various locations throughout the US. This person oversees the administration of projects from planning through design and construction. They will be customer service driven and will have excellent written and verbal communications skills. They will need to be versatile and adaptable to accommodate changing working times and priorities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees (project manage) the administration of projects during design and construction

  • Educate, implement and advocate to all on-site staff the approved safety plan/program

  • Ensures technical, financial, and client satisfaction are met

  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of activities and personnel under their direction on a day-to-day basis

  • Responsible for relations with stakeholders

  • Identifies and tracks potential issues/claims and brings to his/her supervisor's attention

  • Recommends changes/modifications to contract documents to his/her supervisors when in best interest of client

  • Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems

  • Keep projects on schedule and on budget including managing scope changes

  • Flexibility in working schedule to meet demanding deliverable timelines

  • Motivate people working under the direct supervision, by providing high quality technical inputs to the project and the group

  • Ensure QA/QC program is being met

  • Coordinate with team for areas such as: site contractors for field engineering services, materials testing, reviews, inspections, surveying and assistance in technical or logistical site matters

  • Proficient at reading and interpreting design drawings, specifications and shop drawings

  • Document weekly reports; attend site meetings, review construction drawings and specifications

  • Responsible to monitor and report on financial expenditure for budget control purposes, and to anticipate project cost changes

  • Liaison with design team, clients, contractors, utility company officials, and the general public as necessary

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years experience as an engineer / Project manager in the construction/retail industry in the US, preference given to retail stores, gas stations etc.

  • Construction management experience on site-development projects

  • Adept at negotiations with multiple stakeholders

  • Demonstration of current or past experience of being proactive on construction projects

  • Demonstrated experience in project management of projects with multiple key stakeholders

  • Demonstrated experience in project management in engineering discipline leading a team of people in program delivery models

  • Experience in reviewing contractor’s schedules, tracking schedules, and working with contractors to deliver on time

  • Ability to independently solve problems encountered

  • Proficient at understanding typical design and construction drawings, costing and general retail construction

  • Effective English written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to express your ideas and views clearly, confidently and concisely

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Available to work extended hours during construction including nights and weekends as required

  • Will be located in the AECOM Arlington, Virginia Office

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management of design team’s delivery regional/national programs

  • Construction management experience with retail stores and gas stations type of projects

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management

  • Professional Registration PENG

  • Commitment to excellence and high quality of work

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Understanding of safety program management

  • Demonstrated success in project delivery (scope, schedule, budget, and change management)
