Job Purpose:

Execute functions from the Tax Information Reporting process tree including, but not limited to, tax form validation, withholding, information reporting, legal entity maintenance, and governance

Job Background/context:

Lead and coordinate in-scope processes related to one or multiple Citi lines of business within the centralized Tax Information Reporting function in FRSS. This position supports the reduction/elimination of Citi's franchise & regulatory risk through accurate and timely reporting and enhanced due diligence on customer accounts. The incumbent will support Citi businesses and is expected to develop and enhance their product knowledge within a short timeframe. This position includes accountability for migration of information reporting work from different businesses globally into FRSS; roll-out of new systems for Tax Information Reporting; providing guidance to business partners through service delivery conversations. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to provide training and job shadowing, build documentation such as procedures and process flows, and identify gaps in the process based on IRS regulations.

This position will work in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a tax information reporting specialist (and potentially team leader) to execute operational and project initiatives

Act as an internally and externally recognized subject matter expert

Migration of work into our centralized hub

Develop best practices and implement appropriate procedures and controls to ensure consistent compliance with Information Reporting, FATCA, and/or CRS requirements

Support FRSS' Service Delivery model with all stakeholders

Identify and participate in process re-engineering and re-design activities to achieve better controls, compliance, and efficiencies

Support audits by tax authorities and Internal Audit

Support Technology projects from a tax technical perspective

Contribute towards departmental requirement to adhere to strict regulatory and compliance requirements per tax authority and Citi policy

Perform reviews of written tax policy and procedures, research and respond to inquiries from operational areas

Development Value:

Increased overall knowledge of ICG/CPB Operations and Products

Project Management skills

Exposure to FRSS and the business management, that will give a more rounded understanding of the process and what is involved/required

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:

Knowledge of U.S. tax information reporting requirements applicable to products issued by Consumer, Custody, Markets, Private Bank, and/or other Citi businesses

Knowledge of U.S. tax information reporting rules applicable to U.S. Persons and non-U.S. Persons

Knowledge of Income Sourcing rules

Knowledge of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) regulations, inter-governmental agreements (IGAs), and associated reporting requirements

Ability to examine processes and procedures, experience with Process Re-engineering. Re-design and Process

Automation experience would be a plus

Skills:

Excellent communication skills to drive engagement and close interactions with key stakeholders, to provide basic advisory services primarily for internal clients.

Project Management experience preferred and strong organizational skills required

Well versed in standard desktop technology with advanced Excel skills. Visio and Access

experience preferred

Competencies:

Liaison with Corporate Tax for complex tax advisory inquiries and policy requirements

Ability to act as a change agent for organizational and product transformational initiatives

Ability to interact with all levels of internal customers and senior management
